Now you have selected a wedding venue, and we hope you selected a beautiful castle wedding you need to pick a wedding videographer to capture those memories. Sounds simple, but when you get stuck into it, your preference for the style and equipment must both be determined, as well as any extras that may be offered and it can get quite tricky.

Video production is one of the most sought after services of today. This kind of services has done well for wedding celebrations. Moments that you have not seen in your wedding, reactions and emotions are well captured because of the different arts applied in video production.

Modern technology has advanced the quality of the equipment dramatically and the end product is often a lavish, well edited and professional product that you will be both proud of and keen to view again and again.

Be sure to look at samples to see how steady the footage is, how well things are centered, what is captured and highlighted, and what the overall impression is. A good videographer will be able to pan and zoom smoothly and seamlessly, and can avoid any sudden movements.

A few good samples should be enough to get a sense of their style and professionalism. Be especially aware of companies that over-use effects – this can often be to compensate for poor camerawork and stylistically your video could look very dated within a few years.

Sample DVDs will give you the truest sense of what you can expect from a videographer and you shouldn’t book them unless you are satisfied with this.

Any established videographer will be able to send you at least 2 complete for your appraisal that are relevant to your type of event.

The commonest weakness in ‘home video’ is the cameraperson constantly panning the camera left to right and back again, zooming in and out, all in one shot, from one location. Zooming and panning should be very rarely used. Instead ask them to take a series of static shots, from a variety of angles (following the 30° rule) and without breaking the 180° rule.

You must read the small print of the contract in order to determine exactly what you will get for your cash as this does vary greatly, but on the whole you can expect the presence of a skilled and qualified videographer at your ceremony and your Reception, with a fully edited and professional movie supplied on the format of your choice.

The format will greatly affect the video quality, and the quality of any copies that are made, so keep that in mind. Here again, a good camera will only allow the best format to maintain the integrity of the camera.

Anyone operating a professional wedding video service should have Public Liability Insurance, even though they are not legally bound to do so. They should also have the appropriate copyright licences to record the wedding service and any other copyright material that is included in the video.

The wedding videography industry for example is relatively young and there is a huge variation in the way people operate. You could easily find your wedding day turned into a movie set as your videographer orders guests where to stand and how to ‘act’ for the camera. Whilst it is appropriate for a photographer to guide guests for formal shots, for a videographer to do this will only result in a contrived ‘home movie’.

If you can arrange to meet the videographer in person to assess their professionalism, interest and commitment to producing your film project. This is also the best time to ask questions about their experience, working methods and what is included in the price (see separate notes). If a meeting in person isn’t possible due to distance or timing, then you should at least have a chat over the phone.

Most importantly on the day enjoy yourself and let the wedding videographer do his job. Hopefully you did your research and selected a good one – so trust him and try to forget that he is there and enjoy your wedding day. If you selected a french castle wedding you will have a magnificent back drop for your wedding video. We hope you have a fantastic wedding chateau.

Cameras have always been present in times of special events. They can really help people keep all of their treasured memories.

Without doubt weddings are one of the wonderful events in a person’s life. Many people wait for the day they can have a sacred union with the one that they love. And in order for them to have at least a good memory of this great event, cameras are a must.

Digital cameras are really excellent for capturing happy moments during events like weddings.

Since the introduction of digital cameras, they have outsold film cameras. Thus, this makes digital wedding photography a more popular service than film photography. Why?

Well, this may be because digital photography can take wedding pictorials into new heights. Cameras used for digital photography provides a lot of new advantages to their users.

One of the major advantages of these digital cameras is that they let users skip the usual film separation process, which is among the most time-consuming processes in photography. So, removing one time-consuming process would mean getting results faster, right? And when living in a fast-phase society, quick results are a must!

Another advantage of digital wedding photography is that, even though it offers fast results, the quality of each printed photo is not sacrificed. This means that no matter how fast you get your pictures, the result is still beautiful.

Another plus of digital wedding photography is that it provides customization options to its users. This would mean that a user can edit photos even before they are printed. You can change the size, brightness, contrast or sharpness of your photo. You can even add or remove some details on your photos.

Digital photography has also integrated with cellular phones. This means that you only need to bring a phone to take pictures during weddings. Nevertheless, it is a fact professional digital cameras can provide better results than the cameras of cellular phones. Most professional digital cameras have 10 mega pixels while cellular phones usually have lower mega pixel and the lens is of a poorer quality. Even if you have a great number of pixels you need a quality lens to achieve qualiy photographs.

But perhaps the greatest advantage of digital wedding photography is the availability of your photos to be reproduced over and over again without making any variations between the first printed photo and the last photo printed. Digital photography allows users to save their files on their computers, which would mean that they can be reproduced without wearing out any film, since it doesn’t need one.

But, no matter how great a technology is, it’s still not perfect. One of the major disadvantages of digital photography is that it is not ideal for 4-color printing. Why? Well this is because of the fact that there will always be a variation between the images you will see on your pc monitor and your 4 color printed photo.

Why? Well, computer monitors use RGB, right? Four color printing uses CMYK. RGB and CMYK have entirely different outputs. So, no matter what you do, the image on your monitor will never be the same as your 4 color photos, unless there have computer monitors that also use CMYK to produce colors for the images and texts.

And of course, your digital wedding photographs can be retouched using specialist software such as Adobe Photoshop.

When picking a photographer always ask to see a portfolio of his work.

As if there weren’t enough decisions to make, now there’s the issue of digital versus film photography to add to the mix. Many photographers are now opting to shoot all of their weddings with digital cameras as opposed to the cameras that use film which have been the traditional choice until just recently. However, both mediums have nearly an equal amount of adamant supporters who feel that one is significantly better than the other, and here are a few of the main reasons why along with some pros and cons of each type of photography.

Digital Photography

Digital photography has definitely come along way in the last decade. At one time, digital cameras tended to produce grainy images that when enlarged, became distorted or pixilated, but many of the advanced models of today have made that a concern of the past.

Because the technology is relatively new as opposed to regular film, there are those photographers who are leery about making the transition and have little experience with digital photography. If you’ve decided on hiring a photographer who uses digital cameras exclusively, first make sure they’re experienced enough in the technology to produce the results you’re looking for. Don’t ever be hesitant about asking to see samples of their work, and inquire if they also have samples shot with regular film so that you can compare the differences between the two.

Digital wedding photography does offer the ability to instantly see the pictures after they’ve been taken, allowing for retakes or adjustments if necessary. Photojournalistic wedding photography refers to taking many shots in various types of ambient lighting, and with the digital camera, the photographer is able to make those changes in lighting or experiment with different settings, expressions and backgrounds quickly and easily.

Also, depending on the size of the memory card or cards used, the amount of pictures that can be taken with a digital camera as opposed to one that uses film can’t be compared.

Film Photography

Pictures are one of the most important parts of the entire wedding as they allow you to cherish your memories long after that special day is over, which is why many couples want to have as many photos as possible, and with as many settings and poses as possible. One of the main drawbacks to opting for film photography for your wedding as opposed to digital is the cost involved, as quality film tends to be rather expensive.

Processing time is another concern for some overly anxious couples who may not want to wait the few weeks it may take to have their pictures developed using traditional film. Also, film doesn’t allow the photographer, or the bride and groom to see how the pictures look, allowing for adjustments to be made.

Regardless of the medium you choose, one of the very most important things is whether or not you like the style and demeanor of the photographer. Some questions to ask yourself before making your decision include:

- Do you feel at ease around them?

- Can they be trusted?

- Do they seem confident about their work and abilities?

- Do they have “a following” with referrals and glowing recommendations from past clients?

While the type of film and camera used are indeed important choices to make, the rapport you have with the photographer and their professionalism and talent should also weigh heavily in your decision.
